What to Expect
This edition of ADE, we highlight the ‘dance’ element of the Amsterdam Dance Event. The role of dance in nightlife shouldn't be underestimated. It's a primary form of communication, expression, and connection to music.
Alyson Sillon (Before/After) & ARK/Connor Schumacher present a unique dance event, moving through the audience throughout the evening. There's no clear distinction between audience and spectator; the performances take place among the audience, and the audience is invited to dance along. This is a celebration of queer and Black dance culture as an art form and as a community within nightlife.
During this event, the exhibition Van Gogh and the Roulins. Together Again at Last will also be on view.
‘Other than gaining agency ... the dancing body becomes a supplement for the political struggle in both mobilising its forces and alleviating its inevitable failures and grievances by enjoyment.’
Oliver Marchart, philosopher
